Weather Policy:

Due to the outdoor location of contests in the 716Lacrosse League, attention must be paid to certain weather conditions to assure the safety of all members of the 716Lacrosse community.

716Lacrosse Admins will monitor game day weather conditions leading up to the start of each scheduled league game. League administrators will utilize local news radar and forecasts to follow any developing weather patterns.

Any threat of inclement weather at the start of or during play will be treated with extreme caution. The decision to delay, postpone, or cancel any game(s) will be at the discretion of the 716Lacrosse administrators. This decision will be final and cannot be overruled. Above all else, 716Lacrosse values the safety of its participants and spectators.

For the purpose of this policy, 716Lacrosse will define what conditions it considers as “inclement weather”; this list will include, but is not limited to:

  • Rain/Snow - or any excessive amount of precipitation that could lead to the deterioration of playing conditions, both for the players and to the playing field itself.

  • Wind - High winds can whip dust and debris into the air, which can impair vision. In extreme cases, particulates and debris in the air may also cause damage to the eyes and skin.

  • Thunder/Lightning - While the sound of thunder poses no danger, accompanying lighting is the second leading cause of storm related weather deaths. Lightning can strike from up to 10 miles away, and the danger of a strike can remain for upwards of 30 minutes after a storm has passed.

  • Extreme Heat and humidity - Any physical activity conducted in extreme heat must be done so with caution. The risk of dehydration greatly increases as the temperature rises. In addition, high humidity can have serious negative impacts on persons with allergies, asthma, and other breathing or respiratory conditions.

  • Extreme Cold - In cases of extreme cold, being outside for even a few minutes without the proper clothing can result in frostbite or hypothermia. Cold air temperature combined with high winds can create even colder wind chills, which pose an even greater health risk

  • Any weather condition that 716Lacrosse administrators deem hazardous to the health and safety of its participants and spectators.

Should any number of contests in a single evening be cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather, 716Lacrosse may not be able to provide a makeup date for said contest. If possible, we will work with Smokin Joes on a make-up date.
